On May 11, Angela asked questions of senior civil servants on Special Educational Needs plans as part of her work on the Public Accounts Committee. The provision of SEN education and support to children in our schools across Guildford and Surrey has become a major issue and one that she receives a great deal of correspondence about.
Last week, she was pleased to be involved in two meetings with Surrey County Council on the subject, the first with council leader Tim Oliver, officials and other Surrey MPs to discuss proposed changes and the other with officers to discuss what could be done in Surrey to improve communications and the overall experience for parents.
Angela said: "I'm pleased that both meetings went well and the second meeting in particular was highly positive and we achieved some breakthroughs in terms of undertakings for the future.
"You can be sure that I will be following this up for the benefit of all the families in the constituency who are working to support their children with SEN requirements and give them the education they deserve."
