Angela was delighted to join in at the Guildford Young Carers Fun Day at the Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex on Saturday. The Guildford Young Carers Fund was set up by former Mayor Mike Parsons during his year as Mayor of Guildford in 2018/19 and is part of Guildford Philanthropy.
The fund awards grants to support young carers in the borough for things like extra tuition or educational support outside school or college, IT or other equipment to support educational needs.
Angela joined High Sheriff of Surrey Dr Julie Llewelyn to talk to families ten-pin bowling, playing basketball and knitting. Swimming, archery and ice skating were also on the agenda earlier in the day. She had the honour of cutting the delicious cake from The Smooth, with a slice for all the young people.
She said: "It was great to talk to Action for Carers Surrey about their work and get some tips on shooting hoops from Surrey Scorchers. It is so important that young carers are supported through education and social development.
"There is so much brilliant work going on and it was lovely to see families enjoying themselves and having leisure time together."
