Angela Richardson MP paid a visit to Christ’s College Guildford on Friday as Year 11 students prepared for the next stage of their lives as they left the school in Larch Avenue for the last time.
Angela met with Principal Sarah Hatch and had a tour of the school, which included visits to the classrooms during lessons as well as viewing the superb facilities on offer.
The school is a provider of Christian education and serves a large urban and rural community nearby. Mrs Hatch took time to share with Angela some of the successes as well as some of the challenges it faces being at the heart of a diverse and varied part of Guildford.
Angela said: “What Christ’s College and its amazing staff continue to achieve is something that deserves recognition outside the school community.
“I was privileged to receive an insight into the final day of senior school for some of the pupils and to understand how many of them had already achieved more than they may have believed possible at some points.
“Mrs Hatch and I discussed a number of issues facing teachers and pupils and I will be raising all of those with the schools minister. Christ’s College is a centre of hope, inspiration and learning in our community.
“I want to say congratulations to all those pupils going on now either to sixth form or into the world of work – and a big thank you to all those teachers who have supported you along the way.”
