Angela Richardson MP recently welcomed the Minister for Children and Families, Vicky Ford MP, on her visit to Guildford Nursery, Homestart Family Centre and Pond Meadow School in Bellfields.
While on the visit, the Minister took the time to remotely address those involved in delivering the government’s holiday activities and food scheme over the summer. She then toured with Angela Guildford Nursery, listening to the feedback from staff and meeting many of the children at play.
After visiting the nursery and family centre, Angela and the Minister then went on to Pond Meadow School nearby, an OFSTED outstanding school that provides education for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Severe Learning Difficulties and with Complex and Profound Learning Difficulties.
They visited various classrooms and met children of all ages and a variety of special educational needs, as well as talking to other staff and the chairman of governors.
Angela said: “It is quite humbling to visit schools and see children both achieving against adversity and reaching their potential I’d like to thank both Guildford Nursery and Pond Meadow for hosting the Minister and I today.
“I know the Minister was incredibly impressed by the dedication of staff and the positivity of pupils and left Guildford understanding the considerable role that both the nursery and school play in the community both in north Guildford and beyond.
“I’d also like to thank the Minister for visiting us here in Guildford – she was keen to come along when I told her about the outstanding nature of our schools and special needs provision and I hope she’ll come back to see us again in the future.”
