Waverley Borough Council has received a grant of £45,000 from the government's Local Authority Treescapes Fund (LATF), which has been used to fund the planting of around 7,200 new trees in the borough.
The LATF provides funding for the establishment of trees in non-woodland settings with £5.4million available this year. Tree planting brings important environmental and leisure benefits, contributing to people's wellbeing as well as absorbing carbon dioxide.
Angela said: "I'm delighted the government is recognising this as part of this climate change agenda."
