Angela recently met with National Highways at their headquarters to discuss the ongoing improvements at the A3/M25 junction. Angela was joined by Sir Paul Beresford, MP for Mole Valley, and RHS Wisley, to make sure there is a plan to ensure the RHS Garden Show can go ahead successfully in September while the improvements continue.
It was agreed that maximum communication from everyone is important over the length of the project and Angela will continue to share updates on her social media channels.
Angela enjoyed a site visit with requisite PPE to see some of the ongoing improvements. Construction is already taking place on the brand-new bridge entrance into RHS Wisley and a significant tunnelling operation for gas infrastructure is underway. The bridge will be finished and opening in less than a year and there will be a brief closure to the A3 during this time.
It is an enormous project but necessary to improve safety following a significant number of accidents at the junction. It will also help to improve traffic flows and biodiversity in the heathland being created and managed by Belted Galloway grazing. Angela is pleased to see significant road infrastructure investment happening in Surrey and she will keep following up with National Highways and Ministers on improvements needed, both at Burntcommon and where the A3 narrows through Guildford.
