It was a real pleasure for Angela to visit Merrist Wood College and meet with Gary Headland, CEO of Activate Learning, which also runs Guildford College.
They talked around a number of themes to do with learning, skills and innovation. The group has some big ideas for investment in #Guildford as a centre for skills and an ethos where every single aspect of operation is an opportunity for learning. The link between developing the right skills and getting jobs is clear in both settings and there are potential plans to significantly level up opportunities on both sites.
She also had a walk around the campus at Merrist Wood, meeting many of the staff and pupils who are clearly passionate about animal management, welfare and husbandry. Angela was lucky enough to feed the tortoises and meet a pair of Pygmy Marmosets along the way.
Thanks to Gary and Jo at Merrist Wood for hosting her and sharing some of their ideas for growth and levelling up skills here in Guildford - it is vital work to power the national and local economy of the future.
