It was fantastic that to see the Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Sallie Barker MBE, among over a hundred residents and local service providers, attend this event which sought to spark conversations about our collective response to addiction and dependencies.
These issues blight our communities in Guildford, affecting countless families and causing complex problems for providers of health and social care services, policing and justice, education, and employers.
Today’s Recovery Fair provided important insights into 12 Step Recovery, a form of recovery which is entirely free to access, proven to work, and can be a vital component of our response as a community.
It was fantastic to bring together 12 Step fellowships from across Guildford and our surrounding villages to help them connect with the service providers and communities that they do so much to support, providing help for people who suffer from addiction, including alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, and eating disorders.
I hope this event helped to raise further awareness, share knowledge, and implement best practices.
Thank you everyone for attending today and to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on 12 Step Recovery and Visible Recovery for organising this event.
