It was fantastic to attend a Girls in STEM event at Guildford College on 21st March.
I met hundreds of students and a variety of inspiring women who spoke about the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects. The event featured a range of interactive talks and workshops featuring inspiring experts and STEM leaders from across the sector.
I have long been an advocate for STEM subjects and it was great to attend an event aiming to inspire our young women to work in a sector that may not be a first choice to them. These subjects provide vital everyday knowledge which set young people up for the future and they open the door to a large number of exciting careers. It was fantastic to see the event attended by girls at a variety of local schools.
The UK has long been at the forefront of science and technology, and women will play a huge role in driving this sector forward.
Thank you to Activate Learning for putting this event together and for helping to inspire our young girls to consider their own careers in STEM.
