Yesterday (25 September) was Car Free Day in Guildford and Angela had a great time joining in with the large number of people enjoying the stalls and performances in the High Street.
Thank you to Prashant from the Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) based at the University of Surrey for discussing the importance of particulate matter in the air and how we deal with it. It was also very interesting to see some of the amazing innovations that the GCARE team is pioneering to help tackle pollution and ensure air quality.
Guildford is home to the most polluted air on the national highway network along the A3. We must ensure that we take this problem seriously and Angela would like to promote dialogue between GCARE and National Highways to try to address the issues on the A3.
Angela said: "Thank you to everyone involved in putting together Car Free Day in Guildford including Guildford Borough Council officers. It was a great way to promote the town as one where business and sustainability are not mutually exclusive and one that is capable of meeting climate change."
