Angela was able to meet the members of the Castle Green Bowling Club recently to celebrate their centenary.
In the most picturesque location of the Castle grounds, the club has now been going from strength to strength for one hundred years. It is noticeable how much the club means to its members, and Angela received an incredibly friendly welcome from all.
Under the leadership of Jonathan Readings, the Club President, Angela took part in a game of bowls. Although a complete novice, she thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Angela would like to thank Shirley West, who invited her along to the event and organised the event so brilliantly.
The club could also do with a new clubroom with a bar and proper single sex changing facilities. There is an opportunity for this to be built on the site of an unoccupied house at the entry to the club grounds. Angela was able to have a look at this area and she encourages local councillors to look further at this proposal. Even with tight finances, there is strong potential for a community-driven effort to raise funds.
