A huge thank you to Henrietta West for inviting me back to listen to residents of Lordshill Common and Norley Lane to discuss ongoing road safety and road surface quality issues.
Residents and road users are quite rightly frustrated. The potholes have resulted in damage to vehicles and have written some off. This has meant many residents no longer feel they can use the road safely.
This is partly due to a lack of passing places for cars and embankments being destroyed which has exposed the edges of the roads.
In November 2023, Mark Harper MP, the Transport Secretary, visited Guildford and announced £82 million to fix roads and end the blight of potholes in Surrey. Therefore, I will be making contact with local County Councillor Kevin Deanus on behalf of residents to push for progress on this issue. The entire road could do with resurfacing rather than inadequate patching.
I have also encouraged residents to contact the Parish Council and keep talking about it on the Facebook Community Group to raise the profile. Establishing a forum to facilitate discussion and movement would also be useful.
In the meantime, as always, I urge residents who encounter these issues to continue to log complaints so that the relevant authorities can allocate their resources effectively.
