It was great to spend time looking around the Guildford Games Festival at G Live and to see the level of enthusiasm at the festival, particularly from our younger people.
We have a fantastic story to tell in Guildford about our thriving local gaming industry. Over 3,000 highly skilled professionals across 60 different companies are contributing £90 million a year to the local economy.
I had the opportunity to talk to some of the stand holders about their businesses and recent projects. Following this, I joined a roundtable of representatives from local gaming companies to discuss their presence and investment in the town, and the challenges that their businesses face.
Further to these discussions, I will be following up with the appropriate Government ministers to find out how we can best support important local industries such as this.
