Angela Richardson MP

Angela writes:

"It is always great to be able to congratulate the people in Guildford recognised by the Sovereign for their contribution to society with honours. Just before the New Year, it was announced that several people in the constituency had been honoured on this occasion.

"My friend Andrew Colborne-Baber is made an OBE for his services to politics over many years. Political service requires a huge amount of dedication over a wide area and I'm delighted to see his work rewarded in this way. As well as his work at a national level, he has been a great support to me since I was elected and I appreciate his involvement hugely.

"Earlier this year, I visited Guildford High School and saw the way the school was embedding the skill of Oracy - expressing thoughts and ideas clearly - into its curriculum and helping others do the same. I was delighted to be accompanied on that visit by Fiona Boulton, who is an amazing headteacher leading a school that sets the standard in so many ways. She is made an OBE and it couldn't be more clearly deserved for her services to education.

"Angela Noon, lately Chair of the Skills and Productivity Board, is also made an OBE for her services to higher education. The board published a series of important reports on questions of how skills shortages could be identified and filled in the future - vital work.

"Sally Schupke is made an MBE for services to her community in Shalford. She is involved in many different ways as well as being Chair of the Wey and Arun Canal Trust. It is great to see her huge contribution to the community recognised.

"Warmest congratulations to all recipients - it is right that your service, often itself conducted away from the public eye, should have the light shone on it so that it can be acknowledged and appreciated."
