Over the summer, Angela Richardson sent out a transport survey to thousands of Guildford residents living along the A3 in Burpham, Onslow and other areas. They have been telling her about the A3, their views on infrastructure and whether they would support tunnelling the A3 at Guildford to cut pollution, congestion and noise.
The results of the survey have now been compiled and published and among those who responded - over 700 local households - there is majority support for a tunnel.
Before Christmas, Angela asked Rishi Sunak at Prime Minister's Question about our tunnelling campaign and following that, a meeting with National Highways is planned to discuss the project over the next few weeks.
Angela said: "It is a project that I have campaigned on for some time and I remain committed to the idea that this would provide a permanent and effective solution for Guildford with the A3. No more sticking plasters and yes, it is a huge project - but our town deserves a proper infrastructure upgrade of which this is a vital part."
